Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers.
What is kielbasa sausage?
Kielbasa is Polish sausage made with coarse-ground pork, garlic, and traditional Polish spices (marjoram, black pepper). “Kielbasa” literally means “sausage” in Polish, but it commonly refers to this specific garlicky variety. Abraham’s kielbasa is made FRESH (not smoked), following traditional Polish recipes while being handcrafted in Malaysia with premium pork shoulder and natural casing.
Is kielbasa already cooked?
NO—Abraham’s Polish Kielbasa is FRESH sausage and must be fully cooked to 65°C before eating. Many people are familiar with smoked kielbasa (which is pre-cooked), but fresh kielbasa is raw and requires proper cooking. This gives you maximum control over flavor and texture development.
What's the difference between fresh and smoked kielbasa?
Fresh kielbasa (like Abraham’s) is raw and must be cooked—you control browning, texture, and flavor development. Smoked kielbasa is pre-cooked through smoking and just needs heating. Fresh kielbasa has pure garlic and pork flavor without smoke, browns better, and is more versatile for different cooking methods.
What's the difference between kielbasa and bratwurst?
Kielbasa is Polish with heavy garlic and marjoram; bratwurst is German with aromatic spices (marjoram, white pepper, nutmeg). Both are fresh sausages, but kielbasa has more pronounced garlic flavor while bratwurst is milder and more subtly spiced.
Can you freeze kielbasa?
Absolutely! Freeze immediately in original packaging or vacuum-sealed for up to 6 months. Thaw in refrigerator overnight before cooking. Consume within 3 days upon thawed. Since it’s fresh sausage, proper freezing doesn’t affect quality.
Pro tip: Portion before freezing so you can thaw only what you need.
Is kielbasa spicy?
Traditional Polish kielbasa is NOT spicy. It has savory, garlicky flavor with gentle warmth from black pepper, but it’s mild enough for all ages. The depth comes from garlic and aromatic marjoram, not from heat.
Why is Abraham's kielbasa the most popular product?
Malaysian chefs love our fresh kielbasa because it delivers authentic Polish flavor with maximum versatility—they can grill it, pan-fry it, or use it in soups and stews. Being fresh (not smoked) means it browns beautifully, releases flavorful fat for cooking, and adapts to both traditional European dishes and creative fusion menus. Plus, the prominent garlic flavor works perfectly in Malaysian kitchens.
